After a  successful test series against England Cricket team, captain Mushfiqur Rahim is now focusing on the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). He is confident he will be able to regain his form in the tournament. Mushfiq who is among the top scorers of the League will be playing for Barisal Bulls this season.

This will be his fourth team in four seasons. He played for Duronto Rajshahi in the innaugral season, followed by Sylhet Royals and Sylhet Superstars in the 2nd and 3rd season respectively. In season one he scored 234 runs at an average of 39 for the Duronto Rajshahi. Next season while playing for Sylhet Royals he scored 440 runs at an average of 40 in 13 innings. Including the knock of 86 runs which is still his highest scorer in Twenty/20 career.
Last season he was not at his best, scoring 157 runs only in 9 matches for Sylhet Superstars. He also struggled in national team after that failing to score two digit knocks on 5 occasions in his 9 next innings. Mushfiq who have played 169 first class Twenty/20 believes this format is not any ‘fun game’, as its said at times. He said, ” here every single ball is important. One or two ball can change the course of the whole game. Its very small but tensed game.”
The wicket keeper batsman wants to make of this season of Bangladesh Premier league (BPL) to improve his ability for the Twenty/20 format, ” I was unhappy with my performence last season. I have worked really hard to make a comeback this season. I want to contribute for my team, for which they selected me. The more I score, the more it will benifit my team”.

The Rangpur Riders have announced Naeem Islam as their captain for the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) season four. Their media manager M A Baqi have confirmed it in media today. Rangpur Riders were due to play new franchisee Khulna Titans in the inaugural day of the season four. But continuous heavy rain cause that match to be abandoned with out a ball being bowled.

But good news is that Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) governing council has announced to restart the tournament from 6th November including the abandoned matches due to rain. The Riders had Soumya Sarker as their Icon player as well as, spinner Arafat Sunny and few more national team players, but the franchisee have selected all-rounder Naeem Islam as their leader.

It was heard that the franchisee will announce Pakistani hard hitter cricketer Shahid Khan Afridi as their captain, but the name of Naeem Islam came as a surprise. The Rangpur Riders have said they done so to promote the local players more than overseas players in the competition. The franchisee have formed a balanced this this season.
The last seasons semifinalists have appointed Legendary cricketer Javed Omar this season. And have Mohammed Mithun, Rubel Hossain, Sohag Gazi, Ziaur Rahman, Elias Sunny, Pinak Ghosh, Mukhtar Ali, Mehrab Hossain and Shahbaz as their local players. Along with Shahid Afridi, Sharjeel Khan, Babar Azam, Mohammed Shehzad, Dashun Sanaka, Gidron Pope, Richard Glisson, Nasir Jamshed, Senanayke and Rupasinghe among their overseas players.

The Highest paid cricketers of BPL

The wait is over, the mega event Bangladesh Premier League ( BPL) season four has started from today. Since the arrival of ”Players Draft” system in the tournament, the name of the most expensive player of the competition has been a mystery so far. On papers there is no cricketer to get the highest payment, as all the players, local and overseas are distributed in different categories. Each player from a particular category has the same value, which is fixed.
Therefore various players are held to get same  payment. The Bangladesh Premier League ( BPL) governing council has already announced all rounder Shakib Al Hasan as the highest-paid local player in this season and is set to receive Tk 55 lakh (approx. $68,750), the cap set for his payment. Mushfiqur, Tamim, Mashrafe and Mahmudullah will get at least Tk 50 lakh each from Barisal, Chittagong, Comilla and Khulna respectively. Sabbir and Sarkar, also in the A-category players, will get Tk 40 lakh each from Rajshahi. But still most franchisees has signed overseas players beyond the payment limit set by the governing council of  Bangladesh Premier League ( BPL).
The exact season fee amount of these overseas players is known only by the players and its franchisee, sometimes may be the governing council as well. As a result we are not aware who are going to cash how much wealth from the season, still we tried to find it out. After talking with numerous officials of almost every franchisee, we have got an idea about the the actual value of some high profile overseas players. One thing is clear, as per match fee none are near Chris Gayle this season. The Jamaican hard hitting opener will be the highest paid cricketer once again as he was the last season. Its said he is going to earn around Tk 3 Crores (approx. $3,75,000) from Chittagong Vikings for the four matches he is going to play.
Gayle will be followed by his country fellow Andre Russel. Its said he is going to earn 22000 Dollars each match. That means he can earn Tk 2.5 Crores (approx. $3,12,500) if he plays the full season. The former Pakistani captain Shahid Afridi is also among the highest paid cricketers of Bangladesh Premier League ( BPL) season four, he will earn Tk 1 Crore and 60 Lacs (approx. $200,000) this season from his team Rangpur Riders. But one thing is clear since none of the franchisee are providing any official statement, these amount are not official.

A total of 38 foreign players have been bought by the Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 franchises ahead of the players’ draft, scheduled to be held on Friday. The most eye-catching purchase was perhaps that of West Indies big-hitter Chris Gayle, who will feature for Chittagong Vikings in the fourth edition of the money-spinning tournament.

Meanwhile, according to the member secretary of the BPL governing council, Ismail Haider Mallick, there will be no icon player in the upcoming edition as they have decided to change it into “A+” category where the players can choose their own team.
Shakib al Hasan will receive Tk55 lakhs, the highest among the seven A+ players, and turn out for Dhaka Dynamites.
Tamim Iqbal will once again play for Chittagong, Mushfiqur Rahim for Barisal and Mahmudullah for Khulna Titans while Mashrafe bin Mortaza was retained by defending champions Comilla Victorians. Each of these four A+ cricketers will pocket Tk50 lakhs.
